The first step of the project is to build the components of the wooden birdhouse. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to us 1×6 cedar and a good circular saw. In addition, use 1×8 lumber to build the top of the birdhouse.

PRO TIP: Smooth the cut edges with a fine-grit sandpaper before locking them together with finishing nails.

Attaching the sides

Attaching the sides

Attaching the side components of the birdhouse to the back slat is a straight-forward process, if the right woodworking techniques are used. Therefore, drill pilot holes along the back components and insert 1 1/4” finishing nails into the side faces. Make sure you cut the top edge of the back at about 15º, as in the image.

PRO TIP: Align the side components properly, before driving in the finishing nails. Make sure the parts are flush with the back of the birdhouse.

Attaching the bottom
