Building a side table
First of all, we recommend you to build the four legs of the side table. As you can notice in the image, we recommend you to cut the bottom of the legs in a decorative manner, otherwise the end result might not be beautiful.
Continue the project by attaching the supports to the top of the legs, by using 2 1/2″ galvanized screws. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports before inserting the galvanized screws into the legs. Add waterproof glue to the joints after making sure the legs are perfectly plumb.
Next, install the rest of the supports, as show in the image. Align the supports at both ends, if you want to get the job done in a professional manner. In addition, check if the corners are right-angled.
Attaching the slats to the top of the wooden frame is a straight forward job, but you need to tackle everything with great attention. Don’t forget that you should attach the first slat to the middle of the frame and continue with the rest of them. Drill pilot holes through the supports and insert the screws into the slats after making sure they are equally-spaced.
Last but not least, you should take care of the finishing touches. Check if the components are secured into place properly and if the structure is rigid. Make sure there are no protruding screws or sharp edges that could injure you. See all furniture plans HERE.
PRO TIP:Â Fill the holes with a good wood filler and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper. Apply several coats of paint or stain over the components, in order to protect them from decay.
