If you want to build a flower bed, we recommend you to read this article with attention and check out the related projects. There are many raised flower bed plans to choose from, so make sure you take several alternatives into account before starting the actual assembly. Plan the steps of the project from the beginning, as to save time and to keep the costs under control.

It is essential to invest in high quality materials, that are also weather-resistant, such as pine, redwood or cedar. In addition, you could also fit landscaping fabric to the interior faces of the flower bed, if you want to protect them against moisture. Align the components at both ends before inserting the screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to enhance the rigidity of the planter bed.

The first step of the project is to build the legs of the planter. As you can easily notice in the image, we recommend you to cut out several grooves inside the piece of lumber, in order to fit the side walls easily. Work with attention and mark the cut lines before making the grooves with a circular saw. Repeat the process for the rest of the legs, in order to get the job done in a professional manner.

The next step of the project is to build the sides of the flower bed. Work with attention and cut out the top of the slats in a decorative manner. Smooth the cut edges with a piece of sandpaper or make them round with a router.

Build the side components of the flower bed using the information displayed in the plans. Cut the top of the slats in a decorative manner, by using a circular saw. Slide the slats into place and lock them to the corner posts with screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, if you want to enhance the rigidity of the structure. Make sure the corners are right-angled before continuing the project.

Last but not least, you should take care of the finishing touches. Check if the components are secured into place properly and if the structure is rigid. Make sure there are no protruding screws or sharp edges that could injure you.

PRO TIP: Fill the holes with a good wood filler and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper. Apply several coats of paint or stain over the components, in order to protect them from decay.
