Materials
- 1 – 2 pieces of 2×4 lumber – 12 1/2″ long, 4 pieces – 11″ long LEGS
- 2 – 8 pieces of 2×4 lumber – 6 3/4″ long BRACES
- 3 – 3 pieces of 2×4 lumber – 48″ long SEAT
- 4 – 2 pieces of 2×4 lumber – 51″ long, 2 pieces – 14″ long TRIMS
- 5 pieces of 2×6 lumber – 8′
- 2 1/2″ screws
- wood glue, stain/paint
Tools
- Hammer, Tape measure, Carpentry square
- Miter saw, Drill machinery, Screwdriver, Sander, Router

STEP 1:
Build the legs from 2x4s lumber. Center the middle supports and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the top and bottom supports and insert 2 1/2″ screws.

STEP 2:
Use a miter saw to make 45 degree bevel cuts to both ends of the braces. Fit the braces to the legs with 2 1/2″ screws.

STEP 3:
Attach the 2×4 slats to the legs, as shown in the plans. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place tightly.

STEP 4:
Use 2×4 lumber for the trims. Use a miter saw to make the 45 degree bevel cuts at both ends. Use 2 1/2″ screws to secure the trims to the bench.

STEP 5:
This bench seat is almost ready to use.

STEP 6:
I recommend you to check if the components are locked into place properly and structure is rigid enough for your garden. Make sure there are no protruding screws or sharp edges. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to protect the components from decay. You can adjust the size of the weight bench so it suits your needs.
