How to build a Big Green Egg
Build the sides for the table from 2×4 lumber. Drill pilot holes through the braces and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs.
Assemble the table by joining the sides together. Use 2×4 lumber for the aprons. Drill pilot holes at both ends and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs.
Fit a 2×4 stretcher to the base of the table. Drill pilot holes through the braces and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the stretcher.
Attach 1×6 slats to the bottom supports to create the shelf. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to lock the slats into place.
Fit a 2×4 support to the frame of the tabletop. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the frame together tightly.
Attach the 1×4 slats to the tabletop of the green egg table. Drill pocket holes through the frame and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the tabletop slats.
Mark the center of the square and mark the circle with a pencil. Use a jigsaw to make the round cuts. You can add diagonal braces to the corners of the frame, to support the tabletop slats. Make 45 degree cuts at both ends of the braces and fit them to the frame with 2 1/2″ screws.
Fit the big green egg to the table, making sure you use a paver under it. You can see plans for an XL green egg table HERE.
Last but not least, you should take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, we recommend you to check if the components are locked into place properly and structure is rigid enough for your garden. Make sure there are no protruding screws or sharp edges.
PRO TIP:Â Fill the holes with a good wood filler and smooth the surface with medium-grit sandpaper. Apply several coats of paint or stain over the components, in order to protect them from decay. Check out the rest of the project to learn more about building garden projects.
