Wood Shed Designs
If you want to build a simple but durable wood shed, we recommend you to pay attention to this design. As you can easily notice in the image, you should build the structure out of 2×4 slats or by using pallets. The biggest disadvantage of this design is that it doesn’t come with a roof, so the firewood will be exposed to rain and snow. Plumb the side walls with a spirit level and lock everything together tightly, if you want to get the job done in a professional manner.
On the other hand, you could also keep things simple but add a basic roof to the structure. Fit 1×6 boards to the rafters, making sure they overlap at least 1/2″. Apply a few coats of paint over the roofing boards, in order to keep them protected against water damage. Make sure you place the structure on several concrete blocks, in order to protect the firewood from decay and moisture.
A variation of the previous wood shed designs is the one that can be seen in this image. Adding a back wall will protect the firewood from bad weather and enhance the look of the shed. Make sure you place the slats equally-spaced, leaving about 1-2″ between them, as to make sure the firewood will dry out properly. Check if the corners are right-angled and lock everything tightly, as to get a professional result.
Last but not least, you could create a more exquisite wood shed, similar to the one in the plans. Nevertheless, you should know from the very beginning that choosing this design will require a significant investment and a superior level of craftsmanship. Cover the roof with asphalt shingles and don’t forget to add the overhang, as to protect the interior from bad weather.
