The first step of the project is to build the frame of the bird feeder. Therefore, we recommend you to build the back of the structure out of 1×6 lumber and the bottom component out of 1×3 lumber. Take accurate measurements and adjust the width of the bottom to 1 3/4″, by using a circular saw.

Continue the project by making the two sides of the box. Therefore, mark the cut lines on the 1×3 slats and make the cuts with an appropriate saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper and remove the residues with a clean cloth.

Continue woodworking project by attaching the sides to the structure. Align the components with great care, making sure you leave no gaps between them. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess with a damp cloth.

Cut a piece of 1×6 lumber at the dimensions illustrated in the diagram and attach it to the frame of the bird feeder. Align the component with great care secure it to the frame with finishing nails.

Fit the 1×2 rails to the front of the bird feeder, as shown in the image. Drill pilot holes through the rails before securing them into place. Smooth the edges with fine-grit sandpaper.

Last but not least, you should take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, we recommend you to check if the components are locked into place properly and structure is rigid enough for your garden. Make sure there are no protruding screws or sharp edges.
